Mehrangarh Fort

Mehrangarh Fort is located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, and spans 1,200 acres (486 hectares). The complex was built in 1459 by Rajput king Rao Jodha on a mountaintop 122 meters above the surrounding plain, while the majority of the present construction dates from the 17th century. There are multiple palaces within its walls notable for their beautiful carvings and vast courtyards, as well as a museum housing various treasures. The chhatri of Kirat Singh Soda, a soldier who died defending Mehrangarh, is located to the north-east of the fort.
